Why the form is usually there
Registration walls are rarely about you. An account is an address to email and a number to report, which is worth real money to whoever runs the site. The trade is that most people who arrive curious leave at the form — a sign-up page is where interest goes to die.

The one thing you give up
Continuity. Without an account, every call is self-contained: when it ends, neither of you can find the other again. That is fine for most conversations and occasionally a shame, which is exactly when making an account starts being worth it.

Why do other sites force registration first?
Because an account is worth something to them — an address to email, a profile to fill, a user to count. The cost is that most people leave at the form rather than fill it in.
What am I missing without an account?
Being findable. Without one, every call is complete in itself — when it ends there is no way for either of you to reach the other again.
Is my camera on the moment I arrive?
No. The browser asks you first and nothing is shared until you say yes. Reading the pages here does not involve your camera at all.
Do you store anything about me if I never sign up?
The age confirmation stays on your own device so you are not asked twice. There is no profile being built in the background from your calls.
Can I create an account later?
Yes, at any point. Nothing about the calls you already had changes either way.
